Scrapbooking, SMASHbooking

Hello Lovely Friends! Today I thought I would share a couple pics of the anniversary gift I made for Steve/us this year. I wanted to create a sort of scrapbook using our wedding photos, but I ran into a little problem… I am not much for scrapbooking! I love the idea behind it, but I know myself well enough to know I wouldn’t keep up with it and that I would get a bit bored after a while. Soooo, I decided to give Steve a SMASH Book instead!

K&Company has all kinds of AWESOME products, and I just love the SMASH books/journals/folios! The books all come with a special tool that has a really nice pen (think fine point Sharpie) at one end and a glue stick at the other. You can get a “plain” journal or a themed one–I bought the Wedding themed journal. They had the journals on sale at Meijer for a bit so I got ours on the cheap, but you can snag them on the website for around $14.

The whole point of the SMASH books is to be able to just, you know, SMASH, stuff in there however you like. There are lots of extras that you can buy that help facilitate said SMASHing–fun paperclips, little envelopes, stamps, etc., etc–or you can just utilize the SUPER CUTE backgrounds on each page to showcase your photos! That was the kicker for me with all the pages already being adorable as opposed to me having to buy separate papers, etc. to make each page look how I wanted. The wedding book has a, yes, you guessed it, wedding theme, so there are lots of ‘love‘-focused sayings and images.

Here are some shots of some of the pages I did up for the Hubbs:

Steve’s looking mighty handsome in that last pic there, eh? 😉 Our photographers told us to make a bunch of crazy faces, and all of his are SO. GREAT. I have committed to making a coffee table book of all of Steve’s crazy faces, and I am quite certain they will sell like hotcakes.

ANYWAY, so that was a little snippet of what I did with the book. There are like 40 pages or something like that, so there is tons of room to SMASH all your special stuff in there. I told Steve that this type of gift is probably more for me than it is for him, haha!, but I am just happy we have some of our wedding photos to flip through :).

  1. It came out beautifully!!!! LOVE all the fun fonts you hand-lettered!!! You are one talented lady!!! I also found the books at Michaels – use your 40% off coupon!! – or they were on sale, too, for about $10. Such a fun find, Lauren!!!

  2. I LOVE Smashbooks! The idea of scrapbooking is nice, but it is a little too organized for me. I love how these are more…”smashed” together! Very cute!
